A BELOVED community cafe has closed down after four years in Earlestown.

With a focus on traditional meals at affordable prices, 'What's Cookin' Earlestown' has been a popular place along Bridge Street since launching in July 2020.

After adapting to covid restrictions, the cosy cafe became particularly loved for its hearty breakfast options, afternoon tea selections, and special offers.

With owners Jo and Leanne taking over in April 2022, the cafe also became well known for its welcoming and friendly atmosphere, and was shortlisted in the Star's 'Best Breakfast' competition earlier this year.

However, after facing difficulties with declining footfall, the cafe owners have announced that they have closed their doors for the final time.

In a public statement, the cafe owners said: "To all our lovely customers, What’s Cookin’ has now closed its door for the final time.

"We have had an amazing two and a half years running this cafe and met some amazing people who have become friends.

"Unfortunately, due [to] footfall dropping in Earlestown, we are unable to continue with the cafe.

"Thank you all for your loyalty and custom, [it is] so much appreciated. And to all the local shops near us who have also supported us and become good friends. Thank you."

Following the announcement of the cafe's closure, dozens of "devastated" customers expressed their sadness at the news and passed on their well wishes to the cafe owners.

Highlighting the cafe's reputation in Earlestown, What's Cookin' was described as "irreplaceable", with food that was "amazing" and "fabulous".
