A TEENAGE athlete is projected to become a "household name" following her repeated success in martial arts.

Starting the HAMMA mixed martial arts academy at the tender age of six, Daisy Bowers has become one of the most well-known and highly respected athletes in the junior circuit.

Competing in the UK, Europe, and America, Daisy has already won dozens of martial arts and jiu-jitsu awards and was named Young Sportsperson of the Year at last year's Pride of St Helens Awards due to her incredible success.

Highlighting her continued improvement, the 13-year-old has now won her third consecutive junior world title at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships, where she took home four gold medals.

In the championships, which took place in Wolverhampton on July 13 and 14, Daisy won gold in both the GI and no GI (without regular uniform) competitions in her age group.

While this is an impressive enough feat, what really stood out was Daisy's gold medals in the 'Absoloute' GI and no-GI competitions, where she competed against girls up to the age of 17.

Throughout the weekend, the 13-year-old won all of her ten fights across the four competitions, and only lost two points throughout.

Blown away by her persistent success, one of Daisy's coaches at the HMMA gym, Sean Martin, said: "I've been involved with mixed martial arts in St Helens for almost twenty years and Daisy's achievements are one of the most incredible things I have ever seen.

"She is constantly showing how good she is and after beating 17-year-old girls and only losing two points throughout the entire competition, I don't think people realise what an achievement that is.

"She's a real superstar and we are all sure that she is going to be a household name one day, but what is even better is that she is such a humble, decent kid, who always has time to work with the younger girls too."

Daisy's mum Charlene added: "We are extremely proud of everything that Daisy achieved and she constantly strives to be better than her last fight or competition.

"Her drive, determination, ambition, and dedication is what gets her the results she works so hard for - it’s easy to forget sometimes that she is only 13!.

"We would like to thank everyone for their continued support, especially her coaches at HAMMA and all those who sponsor Daisy in her achievements.

"Daisy is one of many European and World champions at HAMMA all of these kids are amazing young athletes."
