TWO men remain in stable conditions after being wounded by an attacker wielding scissors.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information following the assault in Thatto Heath yesterday, Monday, July 15.

Police say that at about 1.30pm, it was reported that two men in their 20s had been assaulted at The Clegg fishing pond close to Nutgrove Hall Drive.

The men were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries “believed to have been inflicted with scissors”.

One man sustained injuries to his arms and legs, and the second injuries to his back. They are in a stable condition.

Detective Inspector Jimmy Rotheram said: “Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since yesterday, including forensic, CCTV and house-to-house.

“At this stage we believe that this was a targeted attack following an earlier altercation near to the the Clegg fishing pond. We are keen to speak to anyone with information, or who saw the incident or saw two males making off from the area.

"Your information, images or footage could be vital in establishing what happened and who was involved.

“Thankfully both victims are recovering but the consequences could have been devastating, and we are determined to find those responsible and put them before the courts.”
