AN application to convert a house into a House of Multiple Occupation has been submitted to St Helens Council.

Information on St Helens Council's planning website shows that Mr Mitchell Palmer, of AM Architectural Studios in Tividale, has applied for a proposed change of use for a property on 79 Brynn Street.

The property, located just outside of St Helens town centre, would see the current residential home converted into a House of Multiple Occupation, which could house up to five occupants.

If approved, any conversion work will be internal work and no extensions or external work.

Although HMO's help to support the housing demand without the need to build on green belt land, applications are often divisive in the community.

A recent application, to change the use of a property on Denton's Green Lane into an eight-bedroom HMO, attracted 13 objections and was refused by the council as it was considered to result in a "harmful, detrimental impact upon residential amenities".
