A CROWN Court date has been set for a man charged with rape and sexual assault.

Patrick O'Donnell has been remanded in custody after appearing before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Monday, July 1.

He has been charged with rape; assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH); sexual assault; assault by beating; and threatening to share a photograph or film of a person in an intimate state.

After O'Donnell was charged, in a statement Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that a St Helens man has been charged with sexual and other offences as part of an ongoing investigation.
 
"Patrick O’Donnell, 22, was arrested on Friday 28 June. He has now been charged with:
Rape; Assault occasioning actual bodily harm; Sexual assault; Assault by beating; and Threaten to share photograph or film of person in intimate state."
 
The 22-year-old appeared in court on Monday, July 1.

Magistrates sent the case to Liverpool Crown Court and remanded O'Donnell back into custody.

He is expected to issue pleas to the charges on Monday, July 29.
