Award-winning tattooist has eye for creating beautiful artwork in ink

Victoria Kay has been tattooing for nearly six years and her customers and clients have voted in their dozens for her to win St Helens’ Best for Tattoos 2024 – a double award win after taking the title in 2023.

In April, we launched our Best of 2024 competition and we’ve given out nine awards.

Ten top tattooists in St Helens made the shortlist for Best for Tattoos and White Rabbit Tattoo Studio took this year’s coveted crown.

Vicky Jackson – who goes by the name Victoria Kay on social media – opened the business on Dalehead Place, Clinkham Wood, in September 2018.

Vicky is from St Helens having grown up in Carr Mill very close to where her shop is located and after finishing her apprenticeship she decided to take the plunge and set up her own business.

Vicky, who is 38, said: “I didn’t have any experience managing and running a shop so it was quite scary but I’m glad I did it.

“It’s just me in my shop and I think that makes me different from other places, as many studios have several artists working in them.

“I aim to make my studio a private, relaxing and welcoming environment and pride myself on being approachable and inclusive.

“People have said that they like having a chat while getting tattooed and that I make them feel at ease.

“The best thing about my job is transforming people’s skin and making the customer’s vision come to life.

“It makes me proud to know that people love the tattoos that I’ve done.”

What do customers think of White Rabbit Tattoo Studio? Why did they want them to win our latest Best of 2024 award.

One nomination said: “White Rabbit Tattoo is by far the best and I won’t go anywhere else.”

Vicky was excited make the shortlist again this year having won the title in 2023 and was amazed to win.

She said: “I’m so happy and honoured to win.

“I feel there are more great artists coming through every year and it pushes me to better myself.

“I feel very proud to know that people took time out of their day to vote for me and support me – a huge thank you to everyone.”
