A GROUP of schoolchildren received a personally signed card from King Charles following their collaboration with the St Helens Rotary Club.

With the local Rotary group well known for their charitable events, fundraisers, and donations to good causes, the club was nominated for the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth and ascension of King Charles III, the group was informed that they would still be awarded the King's Award, with Paul Winstanley and Simon Hairsnape invited to attend the Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in May.

When the 12 'RotaKids', who work alongside Rotarians at Holy Cross Primary School to deliver community projects, caught wind of the invitation, they asked Paul Winstanley whether he would deliver two Get Well cards and a letter from the school to the King during his visit.

Unsure of the protocol of handing an envelope to the King, Paul was informed that the letter would be handed to the King and a few days ago, schoolchildren from Holy Cross received a letter in reply from Buckingham Palace.

On opening the letter the RotaKids were overjoyed to find a personally signed thank you card from the King, while the rest of the school shared in this excitement.

The card is now on display in the school's reception area.
