POLICE arrested a man on suspicion of a firearms offence after officers attended a property in the early hours of Saturday.
Residents reported seeing a heavy police presence in place on Vista Road, Haydock, over the weekend.
When asked about this, a police spokeswoman confirmed they attended an address in the early hours of Saturday, June 29.
She added that following a search of the property, a weapon was recovered.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We attended at an address on Vista Road in Haydock at 1.55am on Saturday (June 29) following reports of concern for safety of a male.
"Following a search of the property a suspected deactivated weapon was recovered.
"A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate.
"He has been released under investigation pending further inquiries."
