POLICE have shared some further details after two arrests were made following the pursuit of a stolen moped being ridden dangerously in pedestrian areas.

Officers were alerted in the early hours of Wednesday (June 26) to two boys riding a moped at high speed through the town centre, as well as travelling on and off pavements. Neither was wearing protective equipment, police said.

Officers attended at around 2.45am and saw the vehicle on Peasley Cross Lane. Upon seeing police, the riders allegedly made off across a pedestrianised area running parallel with The Totally Wicked Stadium and officers engaged in a brief pursuit.

The boys abandoned the vehicle and made off, discarding a pair of bolt cutters as they did so and the rider then climbed into an area of woodland next to the car park.

A police dog helped to detain the suspect in the area.
