HERE are details of seven community events coming soon in St Helens.

Field day
WEST Street Independent Methodist Church will be hosting its annual Field Day at 2.30pm on Saturday, July 6.
Parr Band will play throughout the afternoon.
There are many stalls with prizes, a barbecue and cake stall.
All are welcome.


Star show
A NEW exhibition has opened at The World Of Glass celebrating 50 years of your St Helens Star.
In collaboration with your Star, The World of Glass is proud to present an exhibition of stories celebrating 50 years of the town’s much loved newspaper and the array of people who have supported and had connections with St Helens over the years.
This exhibition will be held in The World Of Glass, Chalon Way for a limited time.
On display are pages and stories produced by the Star to celebrate its 50th anniversary. There is also a series of features from the archives, written by Sue Gerrard, which focus on people with links to the worlds of showbiz and sport.
This exhibition is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the two-year Creative Underground project, co-ordinated by St Helens Archive Service.


Coffee date
A COFFEE morning takes place every Friday morning at Ormskirk Street United Reformed Church, St Helens between 10 and 11.30am. All are welcome.


Dam history
MOMO’S community cafe will host an event focusing on the history of Carr Mill Dam.
The event on Friday, July 5, between 10.30am and 12.30pm, takes place at the Westfield Street venue.
It will feature a look into the history, myths and legends of Carr Mill Dam and its surrounding areas, Moss Bank and Billinge.

Bookshop band
THE Bookshop Band will bring an evening of literature-inspired music to the St Helens Book Stop.
The event takes place at the Bridge Street venue on Monday, July 8 from 7 to 9pm.
Between them, Beth and Ben bring books to the stage along with a multitude of instruments including cello, harmonium, glockenspiel, guitars and ukuleles, along with their distinct voices, to create a cinematic sound that draws the audience into a highly intimate performance. 
No previous knowledge of the books is required as the band guide the audience through the stories behind each song’s inspiration. 
General admission £15, under-12s £8, family ticket £30 (2 adults & 2 children).

Choir concert
HAYDOCK Male Voice Choir are holding their third concert of the year at St Helens Parish Church, Church Square, on Saturday July 6 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12.
The concert is a joint venture with special guests Roberts Bakery Band.

Colour run
ST HELENS Colour Run is returning to Victoria Park  this Saturday (June 29).
A partnership event between St Helens Borough Council’s Active Lives and sports development team and Willowbrook Hospice, with sponsorship from Alliance Connectivity, the family-friendly activity challenges participants to run, skip or walk around a 4k route of the park while getting covered in safe, biodegradable coloured powder.
Participants are asked to arrive at noon for a 12.30pm start. The event is sold-out.
Entry is £10 for adults, £5 for children and young people up to the age of 16, or £20 for a family of four.
