TWO teenagers who were arrested after a stolen motorbike was seen being ridden in St Helens in the early hours of Wednesday have been released under investigation.

Officers were reported to two boys riding a vehicle at around 2.45am today, Wednesday, June 26.

Police attended and the suspects abandoned the motorbike and attempted to evade officers.

One suspect was found in an overgrown area, off the St Helens Linkway, recently renamed James Roby Way.

Meanwhile, another was also detained nearby and the motorbike was found abandoned in the car park of Tesco.

A police dog was used to help detain a suspect during the incident.

The motorbike was later found abandoned in the Tesco car park, police said.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, fail to stop, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, going equipped for theft and carrying a passenger improperly on a motorbike.

Meanwhile, a 13-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, going equipped for theft and being carried in/on a motor vehicle taken without the owner’s consent.

When asked for an update this morning, a Merseyside Police spokeswoman said both teenagers have been released under investigation.
