A HOUSE in St Helens has been hit with a "partial closure order" by a court after people attending the property were linked to drug use and dealing.

In a statement, police in St Helens said the order had been authorised for an address Rodney Street.

Officers from the St Helens Local Policing Team 3 attended Sefton Magistrates' Court to apply for the order.

The sole occupier of the house and its owner will be the only people allowed to enter the address.

Police did not provide a detailed context of the situation, however, they did say there had been issues around drugs, which had been causing significant harm to the community.

'Significant harm to the local community'

In a statement, police said: "This is to safeguard, not only the local community but to protect the sole occupier.

"Persons attending at this property were involved in drug use, drug dealing and subsequent anti-social behaviour, causing significant harm to the local community, specifically those surrounding the address.

"The only person permitted to enter the address is the owner and occupier. Any other person found at the address is liable for arrest.

"This can result in six months imprisonment or a £5000 fine, or both."
