DETECTIVES have charged a suspect following a report of a man acting suspiciously and following a teenage girl.

It was reported at around 9.10pm on Monday, June 17, that a man had followed a teenage girl near Home Bargains, off Haydock Street, Earlestown.

The girl was unharmed and is being supported by officers. The incident was subsequently reported to police.

Following inquiries, a man was arrested by officers. 

Yasin Hussean, from Newton-le-Willows, has since been charged with using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.

Hussean, 43, has been conditionally bailed to appear at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, July 30.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer said: “We understand the concern that such incidents cause in our communities as this investigation continues.

“It is vital that our inquiries are carried out in full and all information comes in directly, as opposed to through comments on social media which can cause speculation.
