POLICE were called out after men reportedly entered people's gardens kicking bins over and vandalised vehicles on a street.

Officers swooped on Elizabeth Road, in Haydock, late on Wednesday night, June 18, to reports of criminal damage.

It was reported that two men were entering gardens, kicking bins over and causing damage to vehicles on Elizabeth Road.

A 28-year-old man from Thatto Heath and a 22-year-old man from Oldham were both arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to a motor vehicle, and taken into custody.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "Two men have been arrested following reports of criminal damage in Haydock yesterday evening, Tuesday, June 18.

"At around 11.30pm we received reports that two men were entering gardens, kicking bins over and causing damage to vehicles on Elizabeth Road.

"Officers attended and arrested a 28-year-old man from Thatto Heath and a 22-year-old man from Oldham on suspicion of criminal damage to a motor vehicle.  

"They remain in police custody to be questioned."
