A MUM has changed her career after having her baby boy and has now opened a boutique offering luxury items for children up to the age of four.
Nicola Percival sold Clean Lean Fit Food in Fingerpost during the pandemic due to the difficulties facing the industry at the time.
She planned to find a new job after enjoying her maternity leave.
However, after her friend, who owns Peak Boutique in Parr, offered her a space in the venue – she launched Noah’s Ark Baby Boutique offering luxury baby and infant items.
The 40-year-old mum and step mum said: “I was pregnant with my son Noah when the pandemic hit and with the troubles the industry faced at the time and the fact I couldn’t run it due to being safe while pregnant I sold it.
“I had post-natal depression with my youngest girl so I didn’t want to risk that again, it was good that I focused instead on Noah.
“I loved owning my own business though, and my friend told me about her venue Peak Boutique and I knew that was a great option for when I was ready to return for work.
“I have two stepsons, but before Noah my experience was only buying for my two daughters – now 15 and 10 – and it’s so different shopping for little girls compared to boys.
“Lots of shops offer nice things for little girls but the same cannot be said for boys clothes and that have a certain quality too.
“I loved shopping for babies and I think it’s such a sensory thing, Covid showed us different ways to shop but I think in the case of children’s wear you ideally want to touch and see the items first.”
As well as clothing items, Nicola also offers accessories such as socks, bonnets and more for children up to the age of four.
She added: “We are launching a website soon too but we would love to see more people pop by and see what we are all about.”
Noah’s Ark, inside Peak Boutique on Concourse Way is open: Wednesday and Saturday - 10am to 4pm, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 11am to 5pm.
