CONOR Coady will form a key part of the BBC Radio 5 Live football team covering Euro 2024.
Coady, the Leicester City defender, was part of the England squads for Euro 2020 and the World Cup of 2022 in Qatar.
After dropping down divisions to play in the Championship with Leicester last season he has been absent from Gareth Southgate's set-up.
However, the footballer, who grew up in Haydock and went to Bleak Hill Primary and Rainford High schools, will still be in Germany - in the role of a pundit.
Coady, 31, who secured promotion back to the Premier league with Leicester, will take on the role of co-commentator and analyst, working alongside presenters such as Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates.
Coady will offer expert insight as part of a team that includes the likes of ex-professionals Chris Sutton, Matthew Upson, Pat Nevin, Izzy Christiansen and Dion Dublin, The Athletic reports.
Indeed, the sports website describes Coady as a "compelling addition" to 5 Live's ranks and a "media natural".
Coady posted on Instagram that he would also be involved in the BBC television coverage.
He wrote: "I can’t wait to get over to Germany for the Euros with the BBC and Radio 5 Live, covering the following games across the radio and TV.
"🇩🇰 Denmark v England 🏴 - 20th June
🇵🇱 Poland v Austria 🇦🇹 - 21st June
📻 Multiple matches 📺 - 22nd June
🇨🇭 Switzerland v Germany 🇩🇪 - 23rd June
🏴 England v Slovenia 🇸🇮 - 25th June
"All the best to the lads, COME ON ENGLAND!"
