A MAN and his five-month pregnant girlfriend were left "stranded" in Turkey after their flight was cancelled and delayed four times.

After a seven-day trip to Marmaris, Adam Bellis, 28, and Teegan Bourke, 23, were due to fly home with EasyJet at midnight on Monday.

But due to an issue with the plane’s brakes, their flight was cancelled and moved to 2pm yesterday, Tuesday.

Passengers were told that a Turkish engineer was unable to fix the issue with the brakes, so the airline had arranged to fly out an engineer from London.

However, this engineer couldn’t fix the issue either.

In the meantime, EasyJet put the couple, who live in St Helens but are originally from Great Sankey, Warrington in a hotel in Dalyan along with other passengers from the same flight.

But this flight was then delayed and moved to 11pm lon Tuesday.

Just two hours before the plane was due to depart, passengers were told that the flight had been further delayed until 2pm on Wednesday.

The flight was then delayed until 11pm on Wednesday.

All updates have been issued over text and, speaking yesterday, the couple said an EasyJet representative has not even visited their hotel, which Adam and Teegan say is not up to standard.

The delays mean that not only have the couple missed out on two days of wages so far, but they have had to fork out on nursery care for their three-year-old daughter Polly who is at home.

They have also had to arrange care for her overnight and pet care for their cats, and Teegan, who is five months pregnant, has missed a baby scan appointment.

They had looked at booking a separate flight to return home earlier, but with baggage, this came to around £400 which was simply unaffordable.

“We are drained and exhausted and we just want to get home to see Polly,” Adam said yesterday.

“You can’t exactly enjoy yourself here because you are just checking for updates all of the time.

“And if the flight doesn’t go ahead tonight we are proper screwed as we will have no money left.”

The Star's sister title - the Warrington Guardian - contacted EasyJet over the matter. The airline responded and said it is sending over an alternative plane to Turkey today, Wednesday.

“We are very sorry for the extended delay for passengers due to fly on flight EZY9414 from Dalaman to Liverpool on Monday.

"This is due to the aircraft experiencing a technical issue which engineering teams have been working hard to resolve. Unfortunately, the aircraft was unable operate yesterday and so we are sending an alternative aircraft to fly passengers back today.

“We are doing all possible to minimise the impact of the delay, providing hotel accommodation and meals as well as covering out of pocket expenses in line with our obligations as well as the option to transfer to an alternative flight including with another carrier.

"We understand the frustration this extended delay will have caused and would like to sincerely apologise to customers."
