TWO men who were arrested in connection with a night-time burglary have been released on bail by police.

Officers were called to Newton RC Club on Patterson Street at around 3.25am on Monday, June 10, to reports of a break-in. Patrols attended and detained two men on nearby Cross Lane.
 
A 40-year-old man from Speke and a 27-year-old man from Speke were arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal and were taken into custody for questioning yesterday.

A sledgehammer was found at the scene and has been forensically recovered.

When asked by the Star for an update on the investigation, a Merseyside Police spokeswoman said both suspects have been bailed pending further inquiries.
