A FAMILY friendly festival planned to take place at Sherdley Park next month has been cancelled.

Following the success of Picnic in the Park in Rainford, which have grown to attract crowds of almost 3,000 people since launching in 2017, the couple behind the events decided to grow the venture into St Helens.

With Picnic in the Park focusing on providing a family-friendly atmosphere, organisers had hoped to do the same with 'Pulse Festival' on a larger scale.

With the festival penned in for Saturday, July 13, six acts had agreed to play on the Sherdley Park stage, including Scouting For Girls, Ben from 'Phats & Small', and St Helens DJ Eric McKenna.

Excitement had been building for the festival after it had been publicised in the Star, on social media, and on advertising boards across the borough.

However, the organisers behind the festival have now announced that it will no longer take place.

In a short statement, the organisers said: "We are sad to announce that Pulse Music Festival is cancelled for this year due to unforeseen circumstances.

"We will be contacting all our ticket holders via email regarding refunds over the weekend. We aim to process all refunds within 28 days.

"We are so sorry for any inconvenience caused."

Despite the disappointment of cancellation, the organisers said they may try to relaunch Pulse at Sherdley Park or at another venue in the future.
