A MAN has been charged with drink driving following an incident in St Helens over the weekend.
Residents reported a police presence around the junction of Marshalls Cross Road and Elton Head Road on Saturday, June 1.
Merseyside Police's Roads Traffic Unit reported that a heavy goods vehicle blocked the road after the driver "got himself stuck after attempting a u-turn".
With the driver arrested at the scene, police have now charged Gary Conway, 56, from Flintshire ,with drink driving.
He has been released on conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at St Helens Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 9.

Confirming the details of the incident, a Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a man has been charged with drink driving following an incident in St Helens on Saturday June 1.
"At around 10.10pm, officers were called to the junction of Marshalls Cross Road and Elton Head Road to reports of a road being blocked by an HGV.
"The driver was arrested at the scene. Gary Conway, 56, from Flintshire, has now been charged with drink driving and conditionally bailed to next appear at St Helens Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 9."
