A SOCIAL club with a proud history has been put up for sale in Garswood.
As reported by the Star, Garswood Conservative and Working Men's Club closed its doors for the final time on Friday, May 10, after a 116 year history in the village.
Launched way back in 1908, the Station Road 'Conny Club' has been a popular place for cheap drinks, live music, and live sports over the years.
The club has also brought the community together with various charity fundraisers.
With the closure blamed on "spiralling costs and much reduced income", residents in Garswood have aired frustrations that it is the latest community venue that has closed down in the community.

A public statement at the time of closure said: "It is with great sadness that due to spiralling costs and much reduced income, we have to advise that the club will cease trading on Friday, May 10.
"The club was established in 1908 and survived two World Wars.
"We thank the staff, committee, and all of our loyal members who have supported us over the years."
Listed by property agents Savills, the two-storey building is listed for sale for £135,000.
Built in 1895, there is car parking to the rear and the building is in close proximity to the railway station.
Inside the Conny Club, the space contains a ground floor lounge with a stage, a snooker room, and a beer patio to the side.
The first floor also provides an open plan games room, office, storeroom, and boiler room, with a ground floor beer cellar also in the building.
