POLICE have detained two men after a crash between two cars on Prescot Road earlier today.

Emergency crews attended an incident on Prescot Road at the entrance of Norfolk Road today, Friday, May 24 following reports a Peugeot failed to stop for police before being in collision with a Volvo. 

Three fire crews attended and found both vehicles on all four wheels.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue have confirmed that the driver of one vehicle remained trapped inside and was conscious and breathing. 

The passenger in the same vehicle was out of the vehicle prior to the fire service attending and was assessed by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) paramedics.

Crews stabilised the Volvo and removed a door and roof from the vehicle to safely remove the casualty quickly into the care of paramedics for assessment and transfer to hospital.

The two occupants of the second vehicle - the Peugeot - had no apparent injuries and were assessed by NWAS.

The occupants of the Peugeot were detained at the scene, a Merseyside Police spokesperson said.
