A YOUTH disability charity has been awarded £600 by housebuilder Taylor Wimpey after being nominated by the local community.

Residents in and around St Helens were invited to vote for a good cause local to Taylor Wimpey’s Anderton Green and Sherdley Green developments to receive a helping hand.

A number of worthy nominations were made but in the end it was Friends – Play for Disabled Children which won the grand prize.

The charity supports families with disabled children in St Helens and the surrounding areas.

The donation was used to bring families together for a fun trip to The Hayloft cottage in December last year, where the children enjoyed an enchanting Aladdin-themed workshop and received gifts from Santa.

Paula Jones, founder of Friends – Play for Disabled Children, said: “We are immensely grateful to Taylor Wimpey and the local community for their generous support towards our charity.

“Our aim is to bring families of disabled children in St Helens and the surrounding area together through events, trips and day outs to help prevent isolation. This donation has helped us to arrange a trip filled with joy, laughter and cherished memories for all the families and this was made possible by Taylor Wimpey’s thoughtful contribution.”

“We’re delighted that Friends – Play for Disabled Children was chosen as our winner and it’s great to hear that the children and their families had such a great time.”
