TRAFFIC is being diverted following a serious multi vehicle collision on the M58 near Rainford.
At around 1.45pm on Friday, May 17, the National Highways North West team announced that a collision had taken place on the M58.
The "multi vehicle collision" is reported to have taken place between junction 3 near Rainford and junction 4 near Skelmersdale.
Initially, traffic management Inrix states there is an "obstruction on the road" and the westbound M58 lanes are reported to have been closed between junction 3 and the junction with the M6 in Orrell.
An hour ago, National Highways confirmed that the M58 is now only closed westbound within junction 4 (near Skelmersdale), adding that traffic is being diverted around the scene via the exit and entry slip roads.
