A SERIOUS multi vehicle collision has been reported on the M58 near Rainford.
At around 1.45pm on Friday, May 17, the National Highways North West team announced that a collision had taken place on the M58.
The "multi vehicle collision" is reported to have taken place between junction 3 near Rainford and junction 4 near Skelmersdale.
Traffic management Inrix states there is an "obstruction on the road" and the westbound M58 lanes are reported to have been closed between junction 3 and the junction with the M6 in Orrell.

Emergency services are on scene.

Delays have been reported after the emergency services rushed to attend the scene, and drivers have been urged to find alternative routes.
It is not yet known on the conditions of those involved.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at 12:57pm today to a report of a collision between three vehicles between junction 3 and junction 4 on the M58.
"We are in attendance, alongside partner agencies, and at this time, the motorway is closed between Junction 26 of the M6 and Junction 3 of the M58.
"We’d ask you to avoid the area, and we will bring you an update when we are able to."
