THE temporary closure of a charity sports shop has been explained.

Sports Traider was launched in Church Square Shopping Centre last year at a unit located near to the Post Office.

Sports Traider, which has shops in other areas of the region including Birkenhead, Bootle and Crosby, look to provide opportunities and assist with activities to lead young people away from a life of crime.

The chain works with Merseyside Police and local authorities.

Shoppers reported seeing the shutters down at the Church Square unit in recent weeks, leading to questions over its future.

However, it has been confirmed to the Star that the store will reopen.
