RAINFORD High has bought a mobile climbing wall for students thanks to support from AJ Bell Trust.

Andy Bell CBE, founder of AJ Bell, the UK-based investment platform, is a former student of the school.

He has a long-running partnership with Rainford High in helping young people follow their ambitions through AJ Bell Trust scholarships.

Over the last 10 years, the scholarships have transformed the lives of children around the St Helens Borough, and further afield, providing unique opportunities for talented students in the fields of sports and the arts.

This year, AJ Bell Trust has extended its support through its ‘Investment in Schools Assets’ project. This has enabled Rainford High to purchase a mobile climbing wall which will allow students to enjoy a dynamic and engaging activity that promotes fitness, teamwork, and personal development.

The climbing wall will offer students a unique opportunity to develop essential skills such as problem-solving, coordination, and confidence in a safe and controlled environment.

Its portability ensures flexibility, and students will be able to enjoy climbing sessions during, and outside of, school hours as well as special events such as sports day.

Mr Ian Young commented: “We are incredibly grateful to receive the ongoing support of the AJ Bell Trust and this fantastic donation will have a profound impact on our school community.

“As a school, we believe in empowering our students to shape their own educational experiences and contribute meaningfully to school life. This not only further enhances our extracurricular offer but also fosters a sense of ownership for our students."

Andy Bell CBE said: “Rainford High gave me a great start in life and it is really rewarding to be able to offer a helping hand to some very talented students.”
