A NEWS kiosk has been listed for sale as a commercial property in St Helens town centre.

Back in 2021, David Johnson decided to take a punt on a small commercial unit after he was diagnosed with long covid and forced into giving his bathroom fitting company up.

At the time of Jac's News' launch, David described himself as an optimist to the Star and hoped to create a business with a real community spirit in the former Martin McColl's unit on Church Street.

Jac's News has also opened a shop at the far end of Church Street, towards St Mary's Arcade, but property website Zoopla shows that the kiosk, next to Go Outdoors Express, has been put up for sale.

Information listed on Zoopla states that the prominent shopping parade location is in a high footfall area, and that the business has an excellent reputation with a repeat customer base.

Financial reports highlight that the business has an annual turnover of £447,421 and a gross profit of £100,584.

The unit is also in an ideal location ahead of St Helens town centre's multi-million-pound regeneration plans, and there is also scope to develop an online presence with the unit.

Listed by the estate agents Blacks Brokers, the unit has been listed for £99,500.
