POLICE are continuing to investigate a shocking crash which led to a man from St Helens being arrested on suspicion of numerous suspected driving offences.
As the Star reported over the weekend, at about 10.30pm on Friday, May 3, the serious incident happened on Helena Road in Sutton.
It is reported that a BMW X4 vehicle collided with several parked cars and then a Ford Focus taxi, around the the junction with Reginald Road.
Following reports of the collision, the emergency services attended and four people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Helena Road was also closed in both directions at the time of the incident.
Merseyside Police confirmed that a 27-year-old man from St Helens was arrested.
The man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit, and driving whilst unfit through drink.
He was taken into police custody to be questioned.
On Tuesday, police confirmed a 27-year-old man had been released on bail while the investigation continues.
Officers also confirmed that they are still appealing for witnesses, and are asking anyone who may have captured the incident on CCTV or dash camera footage to please get in touch and assist the investigation.
