THE Met Office has given much of the UK a yellow thunderstorm warning today, including St Helens.
The Met Office website states that there is a yellow weather warning until around 9pm today (Monday, May 6).
The information explains that thunderstorms and heavy downpours may cause flooding and travel disruption, with St Helens included in the warning.
Following the warmer weather over the bank holiday, temperatures are expected to remain at around 14 degrees for the rest of the day in St Helens.
Tomorrow's forecast is a cloudy and sunny day with estimated highs of 18 degrees.
What to expect with a yellow weather warning:
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
- There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
