SHOCKING images have emerged following a serious crash in St Helens on Friday night.

At around 10.30pm on Friday, May 3, a serious crash was reported along Helena Road in Sutton.

Merseyside Police confirmed that a BMW X4 vehicle collided with several parked cars and then a Ford Focus taxi, around the the junction with Reginald Road.

Following the reported collision, images have circulated on social media and have been sent to the Star, showing the serious damage that was caused to the vehicles involved.

It is understood that two girls were inside the taxi that was hit and four people were taken to hospital, although no serious injuries have been reported.

With Merseyside Police closing Helena Road in both directions while officers dealt with the incident, a spokesperson has since confirmed that a 27-year-old man from St Helens has been arrested.

The man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed alcohol limit, and driving whilst unfit through drink.

Officers also confirmed that they are still appealing for witnesses, and are asking anyone who may have captured the incident on CCTV or dash camera footage to please get in touch and assist the investigation.
