A DRIVER avoided a serious injury on the motorway yesterday after a set of ladders smashed through a car windscreen.
On Monday, April 29, Lancashire Police reported a road traffic incident that took place on the M58 motorway, which runs from Merseyside to Greater Manchester, to the north of Rainford and Billinge.
Officers reported that an "insecure set of ladders" came off the roof rack of a van and fell through the windscreen of a Citroen vehicle travelling behind.

Other motorists reported witnessing the shocking incident, which took place around 10am, although no serious injuries have been reported.
The driver of the van has been reported for the insecure load.
Posting on X on April 29, Lancashire Road's Police said: "Earlier today, the driver of this car was fortunate not to be seriously injured when an insecure set of ladders came off a van roof rack on the M58 motorway and through the windscreen.
"The van driver was reported for the insecure load."
