A MAN who suffered injuries to his chest and shoulder during an assault is in a stable condition in hospital.
As reported by the Star yesterday a man in his 20s was rushed to hospital on Thursday morning following reports that he was assaulted and stabbed near Sankey Valley Park, off Blackbrook Road.
Police were by the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) at around 9.25am following reports of the incident near the Shipp Inn, Blackbrook Road.
Officers found that the man in his 20s had been stabbed and suffered an injury to his chest and shoulder.
He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Today a Merseyside Police spokesperson said the victim remained in a stable condition.
The scene, which had been in place around an area of park land in Blackbrook, has been stood down - and detectives are trying to piece together what happened.
Police said yesterday that it is believed two men ran off following the incident and they are appealing to anyone who may have information.
Detective Inspector Jimmy Rotheram said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Blackbrook Road at around 9.25am morning, who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us.
“We believe there may have been two other men in the area at the time who ran off following the stabbing and we would ask anyone who has any information about who they might be to come forward.”
