Requiem

ST HELENS Choral Society presents Eternal Light, a Requiem by Howard Goodall. Also soprano and bass soloists and organ solo.

It is on Saturday, April 27 at 7.30pm in the United Reformed Church, Ormskirk Street, St Helens. Tickets £10 (£1 under 16s).

 

Book signing

CHILDREN’S author and illustrator Jen Carney will visit The St Helens Book Stop for an in-store signing of her newest release, ‘The Day My Dog Got Famous’, on Saturday, April 20 from noon to 1pm.

 

Exhibition

A NEW exhibition has opened at The World Of Glass in St Helens.

Artists Shaun Smyth and Lee Harrison are holding their second collaborative show documenting the journey taken by the iconic Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station after its closure in March 2020.

PILKINGTON Recs U7s (Yr 2) are looking for new recruits.

The Ruskin Drive-based club said: “Our friendly coaches have a wealth of experience to help all little ones grow in both skill and confidence. We invite girls and boys of any ability to join our team, where friendships are key and fun is mandatory.”

Brass band

A St GEORGE’s Day concert will be held on Saturday April 20 at Clock Face Miners Recreation Club.

The night will include live music, entertainment, and celebrations. The concert, featuring Clock Face Miners heritage Brass Band is free, though people can make a donation on the door.

The celebration of all things English gets underway at 7.30pm at the Crawford Street venue.

Health walks

ST HELENS Wellbeing deliver free health walks across the borough in partnership with Ramblers Wellbeing Walks.

The walks provide a variety of routes to suit all ages and abilities. Under 18s will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. All Wellbeing Walks range from 30 to 90 minutes.

Among upcoming dates are:

Carr Mill walks on Monday, April 22 and Monday, April 29, starting at 10.30am. Meet outside Park Farm Community Centre, Kentmere Avenue, Carr Mill, St Helens WA11 7PG.

Four Acre Walks on Monday, April 22 and Monday, April 29, between 1pm and 2pm. Meet at Chester Lane Car Park WA9 4DE.

Sutton Walk on Tuesday, April 16, Tuesday, April 23 and Tuesday, April 30 between 9.30am and 10.15pm. Meet outside The Old Chapel Cafe, Lancots Lane WA9 3EX.

Havannah Walk on Tuesdays April 16, April 23 and April 30 between 10 and 11am on. Meet Havannah Lane WA9 2JU.

 Crownway Walk on Wednesdays, April 17, April 24 and May 1 between 10 and 11.30am. Meet at Crownway Community Centre, Crown Street WA12 9DA.

Sherdley Park Walk on Wednesdays, April 17, April 24 and May 1 between 11am and noon, Meet at the car park off Elton Head Road WA9 5DE.

Sankey Valley Walk on Wednesdays, April 17, April 24 and May 1 between 1.30 and 3pm. Meet car park behind Ship Inn, 225 Blackbrook Road, Haydock WA11 0AB.

Victoria Park Stroll on Thursdays April 18, April 25 and May 2 between 12.15 and 1pm.

Wargrave Hub on Thursdays, April 18 and 25 between 9.45 and 10.45am. Meet outside Wargrave Community Hub 143 Alder Street, WA12 8HR.

Rainford Monthly Walk on Sunday, April 21 from 2 and 3.30pm. Meet at the car park across from the Village Hall WA11 8HB.
