“Photography makes me more observant of the world around me”

This week, Rosie Anslow shares some of her favourite photographs.

Rosie, who lives in Rainhill, has always had a passion for photography and enjoys capturing the changing seasons.

Here, in our latest Behind The Lens showcase, Rosie tells us why she likes being a member of our Camera Club and who she would most like to photograph.

When and why did you take up photography

I have always had a passion for photography but really got the bug when I moved to Suffolk for a while. I love to capture the changing seasons and nature around me as well as visiting old churches. Since returning to St Helens, I’ve taken up photography again, often visiting Taylor Park and local places of interest. I’m really open to taking photos of everything and anything that captures my imagination. It also allows me to explore my artistic side and to create and then capture memories.

What do you love about taking photos

I love being able to capture unique moments in time and it makes me more observant of the world – I’m always looking for the next photo. Also, it’s nice to connect with other people who enjoy the same hobby.

What is your favourite place to take photos

I am an opportunist so I am always looking to capture something special in any environment. I do enjoy being close to nature so will visit parks and the countryside. I also love the beach and spent lots of time photographing beaches in Suffolk.

What is your favourite subject matter and why

I really enjoy capturing the changing seasons and the natural vegetation. I love frost and snow and find reflections and shadows fascinating as well as sunsets and sunrises.

What do you enjoy about being part of the camera club on Facebook

It’s really nice to get ideas of new places to photograph and to see other people’s photos.

If you could photography anyone / any place / anything what would it be?

I’d love to capture the Masai in Africa they are so colourful.
