A FAMILY restaurant that has become a staple of a thriving high street has been renamed and rebranded.
With Newton-le-Willows' High Street becoming known as a thriving hub of independent businesses in recent years, one of the older venues in the area has been the family Italian restaurant, Ariete.
Launching in the former entrance to the Haydock Park estate, the family has developed a trusted reputation over the past two decades and the restaurant has consistently been one of the busiest places on the high street.

Last year, general manager Kyle Doran told the Star that while the enforced closures during covid were difficult, it gave the Ariete team the time to reinvest in the buisness and revamp the building's indoor and outdoor dining areas.
There was also a recommitment to promotional offers such as bottomless brunch as well as a focus on live entertainment to create a vibrant atmosphere and encourage customers back into the High Street restaurant.
After seeing success from this reinvestment, which resulted in the restaurant often being booked up for weeks at the weekends, the team decided that it was time for another refresh to further expand the business.
So after twenty years as Ariete, the business has now rebranded to 'Cancello Bar and Restaurant', meaning gate, in reference to the historic gateway to the Haydock Park estate.
With a successful launch night taking place on Wednesday, April 10, which included a visit from local councillors and the Mayor of St Helens, there has been a whole new menu dedicated to the restaurant's rebrand.
This includes the freshest pizza, pasta, and risotto dishes as well as a variety of starters and main courses, while live entertainment and promotional offers will also remain.
