A RESTAURANT that was forced to close on Saturday after a tree had fallen on to its building has confirmed it was able to reopen as normal the following day.
The Toby Carvery Waterside, on the East Lancashire Road, had to temporarily close due to the tree falling on to the premises on Saturday afternoon, April 6.
The freakish incident happened at happened about 3pm, amid the windy weather conditions due to Storm Kathleen.
No-one was hurt during the incident and staff at the restaurant worked through the night to ensure the premises was able to open as normal on Sunday.

A spokesperson for Toby Carvery, said: "We can confirm a tree fell on to the side of the building on Saturday afternoon due to extreme weather conditions. There were no injuries but food service was stopped for the remainder of the day.
"Our maintenance team were quick to act and worked late into the evening to remove the tree and ensure the safety of the area and building.
"Thanks to their efforts, we were delighted to welcome customers back the following day and resume business as normal on Sunday.
"Further work will be carried out over the next few days to repair the affected area fully but this will not affect our ability to trade and the business remains open as usual."
