MATERNITY staff at Whiston Hospital have been praised after a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated the service good across all standards.
Inspectors from the CQC visited the hospital’s maternity unit in December 2023 as part of their national checks to provide an up-to-date view of the quality of maternity care across the country.
Whiston chiefs say staff were praised widely in the report for their continued focus on improving services and their desire to put patients first.
The report states: “Staff were focused on the needs of all those receiving care and were committed to continually improving services while promoting a culture of dignity and respect.’’
The report also highlighted that maternity staff had training in key skills, worked together as a team and managed safety well by controlling infection risks.
They keep good records, manage incidents and work constantly to reduce health inequalities. according to the findings.
Ann Marr, chief executive of the hospital, said: “We are delighted and proud that our maternity services have once again been rated as good by the CQC after their latest inspection.
"It is pleasing to hear inspectors recognised the positive culture of our Trust that places people at the heart of the service, and I would like to thank our staff for their continued commitment to delivering the highest standards of care for women, their babies and their families.
“The Trust welcomes the feedback within the CQC’s report and will continue to strive to make further improvements to deliver our vision of 5 star patient care.“
