A PRIMARY school was granted permission for the installation of a timber log cabin to serve as an outdoor classroom.
Allanson Street Primary School, on Gaskell Street, Parr, had sent in the plans to St Helens Council planners.
The application went before the local authority's planning committee at the town hall in March.
In a report recommending approval, planning officer Kim Vo noted: "The application seeks to erect a timber log cabin that would have a built measurement of 5.89 metres in width by 4.99 metres in length.
"It would have a dual pitch roof, with a roof overhang to the front, measuring 2.86 metres in height to the ridge."

It was added: "The proposal seeks to erect a timber log cabin which would function as an outdoor classroom, and this would expand the facilities of the school. Whilst the proposed cabin would be located within an area defined as an outdoor sport and recreation facility, the proposal is small scale and would be positioned to the north-eastern corner of the site. The proposed cabin would maintain the function of the Outdoor Sport and Recreation facility, without resulting in the loss of any playing pitch space."
It was said "the proposal would improve the facilities at the school supporting local infrastructure without harming the open space provision at the site".
The plans were recommended for approval and passed by St Helens Council's planning committee.
