A GROUP of generous gym workers organised free haircuts while working to support a vital food bank last week.
Based on Duncan Street just outside of St Helens town centre, Evolution Fitness XL is a fitness centre that provides top-of-the-range facilities, which have been used by UFC champion Tom Aspinall and former World's Strongest Man Eddie Hall.
After successfully growing the gym's reputation, those in charge have also aimed to grow its community focus in recent years, such as sponsoring local businesses and sports teams, delivering presents and opening as a warm hub over Christmas, and organising classes for the Ever Evolving special needs group.
To continue these acts of generosity, the Evolution team has recently teamed up with the volunteers at Derbyshire Hill family centre to help struggling residents with a series of projects.

Working alongside VINCI, the regeneration contractors for St Helens town centre, the Evolution team organised free haircuts for any residents who may be struggling to afford one at the Parr family centre.
The team also donated kitchen appliances and food hampers to the centre and its food bank, where volunteers have previously told the Star that there has been a "frightening" increase in people needing to use their services.
Additionally, there has been work to fit new CCTV at the centre as well as any building issues that needed completing, with the team also planning an Easter Egg donation at the end of the month.
Mike Garner, founder of Evolution XL, said: "We're always trying to build on the things we do in the gym and the community projects we support, and this is just another example of that.
"We want to get involved in as many projects as possible to support the community and really become known as a business that wants to help people."
