A MAN has been arrested following an incident where police had to stop a speeding car on the motorway.
At around 2pm on Wednesday, March 6, it was reported that an electric vehicle "started to speed up" while driving on the M58 in Merseyside.
Officers attended the scene and escorted the vehicle as it travelled onto the M57 and then onto the M62 eastbound through Warrington.
Once on the M62, officers from Cheshire Police, Merseyside Police, and Greater Manchester Police, worked together to stop all other traffic.
It was reported the car reached speeds of up to 90mph and that its brakes had failed.
Officers used a police car to help to bring the car to a stop at around 2.40pm, between junction 10, Croft, and junction 11, Birchwood, with all traffic held until the incident was resolved.
