A MUM and daughter doggie duo have been waiting 16 months for someone to fall in love with them, with hopes to stay together this Mother’s Day.
Jack Russell Terriers fifteen-year-old mum, Lady, and her thirteen-year-old daughter, Sugar, arrived at Dogs Trust Merseyside in the winter of 2022 after a change in their family’s circumstances meant they could no longer stay in the loving home they were used to.
But sadly, although they are loving life in a foster home, they still haven’t found a forever home of their own where they can rest their paws and spend their twilight years together.
Georgina Lowery, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, said: "Lady and Sugar are absolute sweethearts and have such a wonderful bond. It is so sad that they haven’t found a new home after such a long wait.
“Unfortunately. older dogs are often overlooked but we are hoping that as they prepare to spend their second Mother’s Day in our care, they finally find their special someone.”
Lady and Sugar would happily share their new home with children of secondary school age and would like a garden to potter around in. Mum, Lady, enjoys shorter walks so prefers to be walked separately to Sugar, but both enjoy relaxing in the garden and are often found snuggled up snoozing alongside each other.
Georgina adds: “Adopting a pair of dogs can be incredibly rewarding, especially if it means you’re helping to keep four-legged friends together. Sugar has never known a life without Lady, so we are committed to finding them a home together.
“They soon settled into their foster home and we are confident that when they do find a family of their own it will take them no time at all to settle in.
“If anyone thinks Lady and Sugar could be the addition to their family that they are looking for, we would love them to get in touch.”
Lady and Sugar would like to be the only pets in their home. As elderly ladies Lady and Sugar have some health issues which the team will discuss with potential adopters.
