THE funeral of a much-loved dad and a popular former rugby league coach will take place today.
Barry Farrell had bravely battled myeloma cancer, after his initial diagnosis in 2015, and underwent numerous treatments over the years.
Barry passed away peacefully, without pain on Saturday, January 27, surrounded by his daughters Cara and Ellie, and ex-wife Sharon, aged 56.

Barry was a well-known figure, and had played and coached at Blackbrook rugby club, with future Saints stars such as James Roby and Jamie Foster among those who were under his wing.
Daughter Ellie said that among the fondly cherished memories the family will have include going on family trips to Texas, and to see Elvis’ house at Graceland, in Memphis.
“He was the best dad to me and Cara, and we made the most amazing memories, it is nice to have those special memories of him," she said.
Friend Ste Woods, who coached with Barry at Blackbrook, added: “On behalf of everybody who knew him, he was a legend.
“From all of his mates, he is going to be sorely missed by everybody."
In a tribute, Blackbrook ARLFC described Barry as "a very popular lad at the club and was friends with everyone who knew him, he didn't have a bad bone in his body".
Barry's funeral takes place at St Helens Crematorium at 2pm today, followed by a reception at Blackbrook Rugby Club.
His family have suggested everyone could wear light blue if they can.
