A MAN was hospitalised with head injuries after being assaulted as violence flared following a “verbal argument” in St Helens town centre.
Police are investigating after the attack, which was reported to have happened in the early hours of Sunday (February 4) on Westfield Street.
A man in his 20s was assaulted by another man following a dispute and suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital, police said.
The attacker is reported to have run away following the assault.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: “We are investigating after a man reported he was assaulted in St Helens.
“The victim, who is in his 20s, reported he was assaulted by another male following a verbal argument on Westfield Street at around 4am on Sunday, February 4.
"He suffered injuries to his face and head and was taken to hospital for treatment.
“The other male is reported to have run away following the assault.
“An investigation is underway and witness, CCTV and forensic inquiries are being carried out in the local area.”
