ST HELENS Chamber is calling on local businesses to help inspire the workforce of tomorrow at an interactive careers event taking place during National Careers Week.
On March 7, students from three schools will enjoy a day of careers advice and inspiration.
In collaboration with Parkside Regeneration, this event will help young people discover careers available to them in our region.
Rachel Wellens, Education, Events and Partnerships Manager at St Helens Chamber said: “We’re excited to be working with Parkside to provide this exciting event to three local schools. There are plenty of opportunities in our area, and we hope this helps open student's eyes to what they can do on our doorstep.
“We also hope that the event helps to raise student’s aspirations and give them an idea on what career path they would like to follow in the future.”
This event is taking place in National Careers Week, a Nationwide celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK.
It also gives employers the chance to demonstrate their commitment to supporting young people into employment.
Rachel continued: “This is a great chance for local businesses to show what they do, and how exciting a career can be in their industry. That’s why we’re calling on local businesses to come along and exhibit at the event and speak to the pupils.
“There’s no charge to exhibit, all we’re asking is that you bring along an interactive activity that children can try their hand at – this could be anything from a bricklaying activity to an online activity, and you can be as creative as you want!”
The event will take place at Mercure St Helens on March 7.
Employers from all industries and of all shapes and sizes are invited to register their interest for an exhibitor place.
Rachel added: “We’d encourage any business wanting to give back to the community and be a part of National Careers Week to register their interest to get more information on exhibiting. It’s a great opportunity to support local students and enhance your social value too.”
