POLICE are hunting for vandals after a disturbance in which a pub's windows were smashed.

Residents reported seeing a police presence around the area of Thatto Heath Road in the early hours of Sunday, January 28.

They said officers were spotted in the area near to Thatto Heath Dam and had been going through residential gardens, with police dogs also in attendance.

When asked about their presence in the area, a police spokeswoman told the Star they were conducting a search after a "disturbance" was reported at the Springfield Hotel, in which windows were broken.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We received reports of a disturbance at around 1am on Sunday, January 28, at the Springfield Hotel on Thatto Heath Road and windows were broken.

"No injuries were reported. Officers attended and searched the area. Inquires are ongoing.
