THERE is a yellow weather warning for wind in St Helens from Sunday, January 21 as Storm Isha is set to hit the region.
Forecasters have predicted that "strong winds associated with Storm Isha may bring disruption to travel and utilities across parts of the UK on Sunday and Monday".
The warning comes into force at 12pm on Sunday and remains until 12pm Monday, January 22.
There is a chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, and injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible.
Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage and injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.
Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations are possible.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist David Hayter explained: “A deep area of low pressure will approach from the west on Sunday.
“We expect windy weather for many and some heavy rain in the west and so we’ve issued warnings for Sunday for wind and rain."
