A MAN has been charged with wounding without intent and dangerous driving in connection with an incident in which a car was allegedly rammed by another.

Connor Skeech, 27, is due to appear at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court today, Thursday, January 18, in connection with an incident that took place in Newton-le-Willows in February 2021.

Police were called to Belvedere Road, Newton-le-Willows near to the junction of Billington Avenue on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at about 8.10pm.

This followed reports of a crash involving two vehicles, the first of which was allegedly rammed by the second, a Mitsubishi Shogun.

Damage was caused to both vehicles and two women were allegedly assaulted.

Police said they sustained non-life-threatening injuries, which required one of the women to attend hospital for treatment.

Skeech, of Green Way, Whittle-le-Woods, Chorley, has been charged with wounding (GBH) without intent of a female. 

The 27-year-old is also charged with dangerous driving and causing criminal damage to a Vauxhall Astra.

He is due to appear to make his first appearance before the magistrates' court this morning.

A 32-year-old man from Wigan and a 29-year-old woman from Wigan were arrested after the incident on suspicion of wounding and affray, and later bailed.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that no further action has been taken in relation to them.
