APPLICATIONS for primary schools are set to close for parents over the coming days.
The deadline for applications in St Helens is Monday, January 15.

In December, the Government released the first primary school performance data since the Covid pandemic.

The figures show how well schools performed in the SATs exams this summer and also reflect progress made while children are at primary school.
The exams are taken by primary school pupils in their final year.
Top performing school in St Helens was Bleak Hill Primary School, in Windle, where 83 per cent of pupils achieved the required standard in reading and maths.
Meanwhile, St Mary & St Thomas’ School, in St Helens, also saw 83 per cent of pupils achieve this.
Longton Lane Community Primary School, Rainhill, came in third, seeing 82 per cent of pupils reach this standard.
Meanwhile, Eaves Primary School, in Sutton, St Aidan’s C of E Primary, Billinge, St Mary’s Catholic Primary, Billinge, and St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary in Windle, all saw 80 per cent of pupils achieve this.
