PLANS have been sent seeking permission to display signage at a convenience store after proposals to convert a former pub were approved.

An application to install six fascia signs at a Tesco Express shop at the location of the former Stag Hotel, on Station Road in Garswood, has been sent to council planners.

Last September councillors on the local authority planning committee approved the plans to convert the landmark pub, despite some objections from residents.

The Stag ceased operations in November 2022 and has been vacant ever since.

The plans included for conversion to a convenience store with a wraparound extension and associated works.

An external ATM is to be positioned next to the store entrance on the proposed wraparound extension.

Tesco has now submitted an application seeking consent for sic fascia signs,  one projecting sign, four dibond panels, three vinyl, four plain frosting and one 3.3m high internally illuminated gantry.

Plans state the fascia signs will have a height of 1.19 metres and be 7.13 metres wide, and have a depth of 0.125 metres. The signs will be three metres from the ground.

A decision on the application is expected to be made by council planners by February 22.
